New Home — Dunblane, Stirlingshire.

A calm, carefully considered home — carried through from first idea to completion.

The Brief

The client was building once, with a clear intention:
to create a home that felt calm, settled, and properly thought through from the outset.

They were looking for a home that would feel coherent, comfortable, and quietly resolved in everyday use.

Just as importantly, they wanted to feel confident in the process itself —
and not be left navigating key decisions alone.

The Challenge

As with many one-off homes, the complexity wasn’t in the ambition —
but in ensuring the project remained clear and consistent as it developed.

Without careful direction, projects like this can lose coherence:

  • early ideas become diluted

  • decisions are made too late

  • and what is built no longer reflects what was intended

Design was important - this new home sits within an existing conservation area however more important was how that design
would be carried through.

Our Approach

We stayed closely involved from the outset — helping establish a clear direction early, and ensuring that direction was properly developed and maintained.

Key decisions were made at the right time, not deferred.

The design was resolved in enough detail to remove ambiguity before construction began — allowing the project to move forward with confidence.

During construction, we remained present —
supporting both client and contractor, and ensuring what had been agreed was delivered on site.

The Outcome

The finished home feels calm, balanced, and properly resolved.

Spaces connect naturally. Materials sit comfortably together.
Nothing feels forced or overworked.

Just as importantly, the project feels consistent with the original intent —
not just in design terms, but in how it has been realised.

What This Project Represents

This project reflects a simple principle:

The success of a home is not just in its design —
but in how that design is carried through to completion.

By staying involved, maintaining continuity, and supporting decisions at the right time, we ensured the finished home reflects what was intended from the start.
